IA anon. Drinking/drugs is so highly overrated. I like parties because I can meet people and socialize but as far as I'm concerned drinking is just a big cultural fart of humanity. There's a reason most people stop getting flat-ass drunk once they're past 30-ish, and that's because it's pointless waste of goddamn time, money, and liver function. And I've watched enough people fuck up their lives with drinking and/or drugs that I just don't even want to go there anymore.
I know some partier is going to pop in right now and say ooohh what about those shut-ins ruining their lives with WoW, but come on, killing you life through nerdiness is not even on the same level of cultural saturation as alcohol. Let's compare the stats of people dead playing WoW vs. people dying from alcohol-related problems? And then let's add in some alcohol-related domestic violence and some drunk driving accidents. I hate that drinking is so accepted everywhere. I wish it were on the "No, that's a bad idea" level of like coke or something. I hate that it's okay to drink until you throw up and/or pass out at a party. How is that fun or cool? It's a cultural cancer.
