Judging by the wiki summary he's not much of a romantic hero, but if the OP chose to call him that I guess he does become one by the end. Ugh.

I suppose I should have thought twice about using 'romantic hero' to describe the main character, because really, the book doesn't build up on the romance until right at the very end. Oh well.
