The first secret I posted got wanked to kingdom come. I was called an insensitive douche and even an idiot by some. It took me lots of hours of lurking to realize why and now I sort of see the problems it had. Watching fandom - and fandom secrets - really helps. I've posted several secrets after and all were received well but they all could've taken the wrong turn had I messed up the wording like I did with the first one.

Tip one: Try using tinypic or something, we can see your photobucket username. Which is okay if you don't mind, but sometimes it beats the purpose of anonymous secrets. ;)
Tip two: Check the rules again for a tiny mistake, like your secret being too big or it not really being formulated as a personal secret.
Tip three: Don't be nervous, honestly. It's anonymous. Pretend you know what you're doing or lurk. It doesn't matter. You'll get used to how things go around here. :)

Aww, honey, there's no reason to be afraid of fandom. Yes, there are some assholes in fandom, but there are assholes in every group. Just join in. Comment on secrets. Write a fic.

This is true. There are batcrap crazy ones in ever fandom, but if you find the right little corner of fandom, you can be quite comfortable. c:

I completely understand, OP. Fandom!Secrets was my introduction into fandom and it was really intimidating at first. I think I nearly threw up the first couple times my secrets were posted. Heck, I still get nervous butterflies in my stomach when I see comments on my secrets.
F!S may have it's fair share of trolls and jerks, but I'm happy to say that most people I've talk to have been pretty awesome. You should stick around. :)

Don't be too afraid to post! Like someone else above said, it's a secret so you're anonymous and never have to own up to it if you don't want to. I haven't been around long enough to post a secret, but a lot of my opinions have been validated by just finding and replying to secrets that I can relate to. Just remember, for every person who disagrees with your secret, there's someone else out there who gets what you're trying to say.
