You might want to think a bit about whether you "need" these characters to love your boyfriend or if it's just something that warms your heart and makes you feel fuzzy about the character and your boyfriend for a while.
Because the latter is totally okay. I even do it too! But I think you should think about your relationship and your real feelings for this person if you need fictional characters to keep your love going.

I read this as "my left-to-right boyfriend" and assumed it was a really weird way to refer to someone being left-handed. Then I puzzled over the fact this made the secret sound as if OP was having a very hard time loving her left-handed boyfriend without the assistance of fictional characters, with the implication that a right-handed boyfriend would be fine.

The way I see it, there's no shame in having characters remind you of someone you like/love and vise-versa (especially if they're pretty okay characters!) as long as you don't let that resemblance be the sole reason for the relationship? In fact I think it's pretty sweet that you'd be able to like someone enough to see that person in your fandoms -- it's like you find a way to figure him into your interests and again, vise-versa. Idk I hope that makes sense.
