not the OP, but I wonder if it's embarrassing as hell BECAUSE it went from one of the most hyped things on the internet for months into near obscurity, with zero updates on when it's going to be operational, seemingly no life at all from the developers of it (seriously, anyone alive over there?), and more problems popping up on the tiny part that is posted up. Sad stuff.

Ridiculously hyped up. I remember being SUPER excited, making accounts for any of my friends who couldn't stay up, discussing what house we'd get, etc. And then... nothing. I feel so bad for it, since I don't know anyone who still frequents it.

Yeah pretty much. Of course, it also didn't help that many people thought it'd be like a mini MMO along with the book companion like stuff (i sure did). In which it's not. At all.

I got through that entire thing in an hour (when i finally sat down and played it) and that was just due to me getting constantly distracted by other things (tumblr, LJ, ponies, what have you).

So yeah. It was ridiculously over hyped and it turns out to be complete shit.

Some of the info is very good, yes, but I feel like that could have just been added into a database JK could have made or into an appendix type book, like her little books for Magical Creatures and Quidditch.

Yes! I forgot that I believed it be like a MMO/ the encyclopedia she once said she'd write (I don't know about that now). Sigh, what could've been. It was so glitchy, I just got fed up with it.

Also, that potions game should NOT be that hard. I could not get those tools to work right. Made me feel so stupid!!

(not in the HP fandom) I was just wondering about Pottermore the other day; at one point EVERYONE on my flist was so excited about it and then...not a peep. I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to make everybody go from 100 to 0 in such a short amount of time. That's so weird that they don't update it tho, especially since it was hyped all over the place.

I'm guessing the self-insert concept? Personally I don't see it as something to get bent out of shape over, but that's all I can gather other than what other people have said (except that's all about execution rather than concept).
