I never really liked relena.

I totally get not liking her (I didn't warm up to her until I re-watched the series recently). But there's nothing in the series to suggest she'd try to beat Heero to death with a chair while screaming that he's bound for Hell if he ever started a romance with another guy. Yet she was written like that in a lot of slash fics.

Yeah, this was totally an issue back in 2002.

I get what you're saying, I was in this fandom back then and it was very bad, but I think fandom has actually changed a lot since then. I haven't seen that much blatant female character bashing in any of my recent fandoms.

I still see it in some of mine, and it's still very much a Die For Our Ship issue. And het shippers do it right alongside the slash fans. Neither side is worse or better about it.

The Relena-hate isn't nearly as bad as it used to be (it's been a decade, and a lot of the old-school fandom as thankfully grown up), but there are still a few die-hards out there, and they're not that hard to find.
