I was thinking more along the lines of "almost all mainstream entertainment written by males" myself...

Anyway, OP, I kind of see what you mean. A lot of het sucks, but so does a lot of everything else. But, het does have some specific problems that are more common in het than other genres, and if those problems are the kind that get to you the most, it makes sense to not like het.
