OP: Maybe awkward isn't the word I'm looking for, but I don't know what the right one would be. Whenever I see him I just can't shake this feeling that he thinks he's really awesome and doesn't seem to realize just how much of a dork he is. I suppose it's possible I'm seeing things that aren't there or that I can't see past his character. I don't think that's it, but the number of people who disagree with me makes me think I must be doing it wrong...

Oh he's totally a huge dork and if he doesn't know it, he sure acts like he does. I thought you meant, like, his delivery/speaking style, which I always thought was pretty polished.
