How is it random and out of place? It has an obvious reference to the show and people are using it to connect to fictional characters and a fictional universe they feel strongly about. That kind of stuff is all over the internet.

Seriously, it's called FUN. People running around putting up posters knowing that maybe (depending where you live in the world, I'm in the US and only know 3 other Sherlock fans irl and I have a huge friend circle) MAYBE one person out of a thousand who walk by it will get it, and you have just made that person's day?

That is an awesome fandom.
