OP here. I say something against Naya and suddenly people will call me racist? That's weird. Especially because I'm latin lol.

I hated it too. (I did like Santana's parts, but I have sort of a blind love for her and was just happy they gave her that.)

I too have a sort of blind love for her. She could probably sing, I don't know, Bieber songs and I'd enjoy it.

Oddly, it's exactly opposite for Finn and Rachel. The hate is strong for those two.

In that case, we must be twins.

I hated it, too. But then, I hate Adele's music in general, so that probably didn't help. :/ (Their mashup of "I Will Survive" and "Survivor", though? ♥ ♥ ♥)

I loved the song, but I can see why someone wouldn't. To each his/her own, I suppose.

I didn't like the mashup either, precisely because I love "Someone like you".

I did like I Will Survive/Survivor.

Why exactly did you hate it? I know that you can't always pin down why something doesn't work, but I'm curious why you didn't like it. I thought it both paid genuine respect to the song and the characters and that Amber/Naya knocked it out of the park.

Of course, really, it all comes down to personal preference and what works for some people doesn't work for others and there's nothing wrong with that. I know it makes me weird, but I'd rather accept that what I like and what others like isn't always the same and go on from there.

For me, the chorus parts Naya had to sing were slightly above her range. She was reaching and you could hear it, which ruins song enjoyment for me, since I could reach for notes and sing them passably. I want to hear someone sing better than me. She was fantastic on the verses, and so was Amber. But the chorus...

Wow, really? That was probably one of my favorite things that Glee has ever done. And I don't usually like their mashups. To each their own, I guess.

I did love it, but I thought the relation of the song to the situation was a maaaaaajor stretch. That happens a lot lately, though.

That was just a lesson song, though. It was only supposed to be related to mash-ups.

Wow - I loved everything about the mashup. I like both songs on their own but I thought the way they combined them worked really well. And the scene from the show was good too.

But to each their own, I guess.

(Also, I love the way Naya sang the "don't forget me I begged" lines - sounded really passionate to me.)

That's what I felt with the lines too - that she is trying to get past Brittney because she isn't in love with Santana in return, but it's so hard to let go of love... To me it feels raw and emotional and the kind of moment that keeps me coming back to Glee even after all the other disappointments.

Probably because most of the Glee performances have been mediocre and/or shit lately that once they made a decent one people jump up and down screaming "Glee still has it!"

Huh, it's funny I had the exact opposite reaction as the OP. I feel bad for loving this version more than the "real thing(s)". I mean, (as much as I LOVE Naya) Adele obviously has the superior voice (to either actress), and she wrote both songs, so...she should win, right? But I just can't get into the languid tempo of "Someone Like You". I'm a weird girl - I have a tough time loving ballads. I do love some, but uptempo is usually much more my thing, as it is in this case.

Also, I think I must have caught ADD from MTV like my parents said I would (btw, I'm referring to the 80's and early 90's when they used to play music videos, if there are any youngsters reading this), but I ADORE mash-ups! Why listen to one song at once WHEN I COULD BE LISTENING TO TWO??? It's like, so much more stimulation! I also kind of prefer the mash-up of Thriller Glee did to the original Thriller, and yes I understand that I will be crucified for sharing that, and I kind of believe that I deserve it but damn it, that's how I feel and I can't change it!

ANYWAYS, I also agree with everyone here who said Naya's delivery of "Don't forget me!" was immaculate perfection. LOVE IT.

I didn't like it either, but then I've not liked most of the songs this season. Even though last season's songs were random, I feel everyone sang them so much better.

But yeah, it was Naya's "Don't forget me" than ruined it. Everything else was perfection, but I hate when singers try to sing outside their range (also looking at you Chris Colfer). You can't do it, stop.

You are QUITE judgemental. Are you a vocal coach? Are you an accomplished professional singer? No? I could have sworn you must have been, since you are so well informed about the intricacies of singing and feel that you can tell people how they may or may not do it.
