What I want to know is WHY people think that just admitting you have a mental illness or disorder is "trying to be special". I mean, sure, there are people who blame everything on the fact that they have Aspergers and talk about it constantly when it isn't even relevant to the discussion but just ADMITTING that you have it is not "attention-whoring"

I imagine that it's because so many attention seekers harp on the whole Aspergers thing that it almost doesn't seem serious anymore. But yeah, still no reason to blame every single person ever who's mentioned having it. :/
