There have to be hearing people who know ASL or else there wouldn't be ASL translators for the deaf. You need to be able to hear what's being said if you're a translator.
If you're really serious about studying it, you could develop a really useful skill that is helpful to deaf people who want to attend something requiring a translator (a class, a play, a presentation, etc) and which could pretty much guarantee you a job due to its rarity among the hearing.
