Peter Jackson also has a lot more leeway to do whatever the hell he wants to do, though, and having seen many of his films I don't necessarily trust him to have very good self-editing skills. I bounce between worrying it'll be utterly ridiculous like Braindead (the fact that Braindead is amazing nonwithstanding) and worrying it'll be like LotR: The Remix rather than being The Hobbit.

LOL, yeah. Just judging by his more popular stuff I've seen I think I understand those fears, and somehow I can see The Hobbit being especially easy to make ridiculous. But the trailer gives me an impression of something with an appropriately different feel compared to the trilogy, so hopefully he's not getting too inventive with it.
