That was the ending I got, and I couldn't have been happier since I didn't like either of them, though Katherine was less grating on my nerves. The Maniac Pixie Dream Girl thing Catherine had going on just made me roll my eyes. She reminded me of Lilah from Dexter.

I agree. I get that there are cultural differences between what is 'sexy' in Japan and what is 'sexy' in the West...but geeeeez Catherine was a grating, juvenile moron. I kept getting skeeved out because she was so...childish and cutesy. She reminded me more of a 12 year old girl than an adult woman, let alone a supposedly hundreds-of-years-old succubus.
