6. DO IT. DOOOOO IIIIIIT. . .and if you're worried about wank, the internet is huge and anonymous and this is what socks are for

9. I believe I shipped Doctor/Master long before I even knew what slash *was*. (You give a guy a kinky name like that, even at the age I was when the old Who was on PBS, it gives a person ideas. ^^)
aestivalis: akito sits in a cockpit, the terraformed planet mars in full view behind him (martian successor nadesico) (time well spent)

#13, you are tugging at the delicate strings of my heart here! Stop it!

But really, gosh. It was only a week or so ago that I was reminiscing this series with a friend (oh, haha, I wonder if that's you?), but we didn't go into anything near the detail you relayed here. And man, I-- I wanna reread 'em more than ever now!

Thank you~ ♥

2. How far have you read? There's like. No fanservice during their time on Namek the festival arc.

[identity profile] zoom-gas.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
6. O LAWD IS DAT SUM RALPH HAYES???
I once kinda-intentionally pissed off a really popular webcomic artist
it was fucking hilarious. oohhh man.
7. hahahaha i love this secret.
11. This is worthy of a whole secret?
14. Not in that fandom but DAMMIT THANK YOU. This is relevant for EVERY FANDOM.
19. I know how that is :\
21. Yeah, thats a pretty big burden to be saddled with. But sometimes, in times of depression...there's little common sense, and telling people close to you sometimes does more harm than good. Take it for what it's worth. You helped someone.

[identity profile] imxnotxshort.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally agree. I skipped that secret until I saw the responses to it...
Tobias' existance only improved my obsession with hawks in general. Red Tails were always my favorite.

1. Word. I don't know why "real people" who are also online don't count as "real people". Would they be more real if we talked on the phone for two hours every day -- the way my sister does?

13. My most vivid thoughts on K.A. Applegate's series is that you could read the first book and then skip the next twenty pages of every other book, because the first twenty pages were exactly the same in every book. Virtually verbatim. My name is blah, this happened to me, this is blah, he's my blah, this is blah, I hate his guts, ETC.

14. SIGNED KTHNX.

[identity profile] enjolras.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
7. LOL. I love those commercials. Though they make me want to have seizures sometimes.
11. HAHAHA. Are you serious? WTF. I love A Bug's Life anyway. <333
14. DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD: NO. JUST NO THANKS.
16. Me too. Short and sweet, yes.
17. I never realized that. But that makes me happy as well. ♥
24. Mary Sues don't bother me half as much as they used to. I think the spork communities are incredibly lame and a waste of time, even though I was in one a long time ago. It was a stage, mostly...

[identity profile] fairyfey.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
9. I didn't ship Master/Doctor until I met Dero. >> (Though I don't ship new!Master/Ten because I haven't even seen that season yet.)

14. For seriously.

19. Ditto. :\

That seems to be what happens to FMA for everyone. I swear, I don't know one person in fandom that hasn't had a character ruined by another person.

Re: 11

[identity profile] wolfychan.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Your mom's about five million dollars worth of dumb if she hasn't sued. I mean, wouldn't she have the originals?

Plus, character design at an enormous studio like Pixar/Disney doesn't work like that. There's always a million revisions and meetings and director's notes to "see what they'd look like with six legs... nah, don't like it" and studio notes to "make them better for toys" and all that. They're not going to spend months and millions of dollars animating designs lifted unaltered from some random illustrator.

Plus it's just ridiculous.

Plus you write like a troll. "I don't care what you think! Really! Not caring! NOT CARING REALLY LOUD RIGHT HERE GUYS!"

23.

[identity profile] crackjaw.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That actually happens in almost every anime ever where someone plays the piano, because piano playing is way too complicated for that kind of animation budget. Still annoys me every time, though. (OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB, I'M LOOKING AT YOU.)

24. I don't hate Mary Sues because of any preference for slash. I hate Mary Sues because dumb twelve year olds flood FF.net with fics about themselves + [insert male character] + [insert stupid fucking angsty topic like omg I wanna cut maiself because he duznt wub me!1].

-_-

15. Heh. That is very, very true. Although the Winchesters can take comfort in the fact that they are all smokin' hot.

18. I don't feel one way or another about Master/Doctor, but the ship and everything that came with it did appear rather...quickly, didn't it? I have never seen a ship explode that much before.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-07-06 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)

6. Isn't that a repeat? o_O
11. Wow, that's lame. Couldn't you just have said that in a comment when the original secret was posted? Do you really need attention that much?
13. Meet 16.
14. DO NOT WANT!
16. Meet 13. And IAWTS.
24. I hate any group of individuals who think it's funny or cool to bash another group. I immediately lose respect for anyone who does that. And yeah, slash has so much crap in it it's not even funny.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-06 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Oh yeah. It seems like no matter how old you get or what you do on the computer you're always "wasting" your life on the internet, instead of interacting with friends you'd otherwise never get a chance to meet. I may never go to Italy, but I've made a great friend there thanks to internet and fandom.

5. What's stopping you from writing long paragraphs in IM rp? I do it all the time ^_^;; and have irrelevant conversation in parenthesis on top of that. Might wanna talk to your friend about that.

16. Why? You don't have to read them. Granted, I don't like seeing them cause I'm like "Hodamn, I gotta read all this?" I generally skip it, and if enough people comment on it, I'll go back and give it a quick read XD

21. Man, I had an RPer do that to me. She told me that when I wasn't online to play strong seme to her emasculated weepy emo uke, that she hurt herself. I gave up trying to be the suicide intervention hotline a long time ago. People don't listen. And this is going to sound severely assholian, but I've known people who have been saved from suicide by internet friends moving heaven and earth to call their local rescue squad. Honestly, they should have let them die. They've gone on to be even more miserable and unproductive and now they're in debt and in place that they hate. They would have been better off kicking it the first time.

[identity profile] imxnotxshort.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Okay~

1. I think a lot of people would agree with this. We are reading fandom!secrets, after all.

2. I concur. Not necessarily that series, but I hate when I'm really passionate about something (or would be) if it wasn't for the annoying sex/nudity/idiocy they throw around that makes other people think you're insane for enjoying it.

5. I can relate to this on more levels than I'd like to admit

10. Umm.... To each their own, I guess?

13. Life-changing Animorphs, FTW. I don't know what I love more, that someone posted this secret or how many people in general went IAWTS. God, that series certainly shaped my life. But no one knows about it, 'cause all I talk about is FMA.

14. My friends and I make the PANTS jokes for the humor in it, but no I'm not part of the fandom. And I don't ever intend to be part of the fandom, I've seen what fandom does to beloved things - and 22 years of obsession down the drain for Link!panty-shots? Uh, no... Thanks, anyway.

16. I concur. I don't have the attention span to read all of that. As mentioned above, I skipped 13, because of it.

19. This seems to be an on-going issue....

21. Wow, um... I have a hard enough time with issues like that, when it is my friend. I wouldn't know what the hell to do, with some random person I don't know telling me that stuff.

23. Band-nazism aside... Yeah, I'm a major canon-nazi on a lot of things. I don't care so much if something's altered a bit, but to go completely against something that would or wouldn't happen pisses me off. Whether it's fandom vs. canon, or a legit production ignoring facts.... It drives me insane. I hate watching movies or whatever and thinking "Dear God, do you do -any- research on that subject before spewing out this ill-thought out work?"

Well, I know somebody who's been absolutely obsessed with Vic Mignogna. I found it easy enough to stay away from the dub but she kept on blathering about how much she loved the guy and how much she loves the show. I know her IRL so it's worse than just talking to somebody online too. XD I've distanced myself from the fandom, the show, and her.

[identity profile] forchancookie.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
6. Sort of, it was too frickin big to post the first time around. It was put in the too big secrets part and I remember it taking like, a minute or two to download on my fios O_O
karel: (larsa; little things give you away)

[personal profile] karel 2007-07-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
5. Uhhh I think this is about me. I swear to god I TRY to make them long replies. I'm just not very good at it! And I'm online, but you're never on when I am! D:

23. XD I know. In nearly every single anime I've ever watched, and in many TV shows and movies, they get piano playing wrong. It makes me want to scream.

Re: 19

[identity profile] puckyducky.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I still like all FMA and other series' characters just fine. I dunno, I don't let people ruin it for me.

Re: 23.

[identity profile] rabanastre.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I figured it was all about money. I'd rather almost have the shows just have a shot where you can't see their hands or something. I remember it happening in Ouran, but in Nodame, they play the piano pretty much every episode. As a piano player, it just irks me. DX

[identity profile] heerodiscarded.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
19. Ditto.

Ken Atsamaru? If yes, I'm totally with you, except that the fanservice had me hating Love Hina withing ten pages.

[identity profile] imxnotxshort.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, best comment ever.

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
To #1: I can agree with this. Many of us live in places where fandom cannot be publicly expressed. Thus, the Internet gives us what we lack.

To #2: I can see your grievance, but I'm afraid you've been outvoted by the male half of the fan base. ;-) Me? It's a bishounen-free series, so bring on the female fan service, I say! In the age of yaoi, the guys need something, too, IMO.

To #11: It does seem a little sketchy, doesn't it?

To #14: Link killed Soul Calibur fandom. IMO, he now deserves the abuse he gets. :-|

To Not!Secret #1: I'm a GM. The players owe me posts, damn them. :-)

To Not!Secret #2: Rock on. Harlock is awesome.
