And yeah, slash has so much crap in it it's not even funny.

What was that about bashing another group?

because certainly, het or gen doesn't have any crap in it at ALLLLL.

if you hate fanservice, how can you be an anime/manga fan at all? The genre's full of it.

holy sweeping generalizatins, batman!

because some anime and manga don't rely on fanservice to tell their stories?

not in the fandom but...

if he's got two arms and two legs, he will be vaguely human-like and thus look a little like a human.

the missing nose lends toward his alienness which is not a bad thing.

but some people lose their sense of perspective and it stops being funny.

exactly! that's the motivating factor behind almost every fandom kerfuffle on the internet.

I non-secretly really hate very bad OOC slash that is just an alternative for canon pairings. If people can make a pairing work, I'm fully behind the idea. Really not just with slash. I actually like a lot of alternate pairings and crossover stuff, like I dig Rally Vincent and Jigen Daisuke a lot. A few people can even make some good OCs.

Unfortunately most people make Mary Sues that they try to convince themselves aren't Mary Sues and just torture the hell out of the lot of us and keep shoving their character possessively down our throats. As an artist, and as someone who's been run out of many a fandom by oh-my-god-I-made-a-character-he's-going-to-marry-mine-mine-mines, I get pretty goddamn frustrated with them.

I'm pretty much to the point now some shows/characters I refuse any involvement in the fandom for.

In short, even if someone didn't like slash, I would FAR prefer they did an odd non-canon pairing or dig out a character from another series that would fit them and go crossover before they would do super tacky sue. I mean, really, crossover pairings aren't that bad. Even if you argue, "Well these two series would never crossover-" the sue isn't going to get written in either. Might as well go the easy way and do crossovers if you don't dig canon and such and spend your creative energies on making OCs for your own independent purposes. People actually tend to like them better if you don't attach them to people.

Well, it wasn't something I could help. Everytime the Master showed up, I knew there was going to be a storm of squee following every interaction with the Doctor.

Though, it didn't make me hate the entire show from One to Ten--I was too general when I wrote my secret. Rather, it made me sort of dread watching the new episodes, and pulled a lot of the emotion out of the Master's death because, again, all it made me think of was the fan flailing that would result.

Anyway, it's over now so I expect the squee will ebb to more reasonable levels and I'll go back and rewatch the last three episodes later, and hopefully feel it a bit more. Though I don't think I can ever take glowy!Ten totally seriously, lol.

Good points. The thing that made me not believe the original secret? They described the mantis as a "karate master". In the movie, he wasn't a karate master, he was a conjurer.

(I'm not the poster of #11, and I don't mean to provoke more wank. I just had to say so.)

Sure doesn't seem like it is for the people in that secret.

1. Oh how I loves me some fandom, but I would love to meet them IRL~ :D

3. People who make 'ugly' characters pretty boys and make them OOC make me want to strangle... something. D: But then I remember that some people do it just for fun and giggles and well... I guess all of us are guilty of it at some point or want to do that. XD

... I still don't get BISHIFYING Homestar Runner chars tho. D: Srsly, what? Normal looking = k. But bishiecakes? OKAY NO.

25. Phoenix Wright love ♥

AHA. AGREED SOOO MUCH. Yeah, I'm close to Tamaki's age and I wouldn't be able to play the stuff he does. But then again, I've only been playing for six years. D: I just wish the people who made the anime would realize that playing an instrument isn't just something that one can pick up suddenly.

XDD BEING RICH DOESN'T EQUAL AUTOMATICALLY BEING GOOD AT SOMETHING~

I KNOW BUT IT DOES MEAN YOU GET BETTER INSTRUCTORS AND A LOT MORE FREE TIME. (I gave up on lessons because of schoolwork, but I still play at least...)

Not the secret-maker of either secrets but saying the mother is an idiot is just plain rude. Also, I don't think you or me know enough about the full details of the incident to judgments like "stupid" like that.

I'm a slash fan so don't even start dumbass.

I don't see how the person is hypocritical, really. The secret maker of #11 could have just commented this when it was posted instead of making it a 'secret.'
Also, if the person posted that 'Bugs Life' claim as a SECRET, I doubt that person would want to advertize their identity NOW.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-07 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes it's easier to tell your secrets to a complete stranger.

I can only guess that the subject of the secret feels that they can somehow relate to the secret posters story, and therefore maybe the secret maker themself. A drowning man will grasp at straws I guess.

Dude, EVERY genre has crap in it.

And I quote from some famous writer guy whose name I don't remember at the moment: "90% of science fiction is crud, but then 90% of everything is crud."

I did a little doodle making fun of him and he flipped his lid and went on an e-rampage.
I'd tell you more, but I'm satisfied being under the veil of anonymous about this, but if you do your research and ask around, Im sure you can figure it out.

Sorry. I have to call bullshit.

If your mother was any kind of professional artist and had two brain cells to rub together, she would not have given a client the only existing copy of a commissioned work without getting paid up front for it.

Sorry, you're a liar. But hey, at least you got plenty of attention out of it. Congratulations.

13. WOOOOORD.

One day I will write a letter to K.A. Applegate and tell her how much I love her. Once they invent enough words for "love."

17. Aww, adorable secret. (You know that the kid.. forgot his name.. was a teenager in the original book? It's a good thing Miyazaki made him into a kid. Now no one's shipping Howl with anyone but Sophie, which is great, since they belong to each other <3)
