Eh, I don't judge people for collecting things, but I do sort of wonder why people collect things that have an actual finite use. I mean, I know someone who collects cereal boxes because the art changes and they've been doing it for years, but they don't eat the cereal. Others do it with sodas and stuff like that. It always makes me go :/

Yeah, I always can't help but think '...20 years from now, that is going to be DISGUSTING.'

And then I get nightmares about mold trying to eat me. (Ok, that only happened once, but the point is that it happened.)

But I do agree that the friend judging her is just plain weird. At least make up has a use if you want to use it. Those figuring usually just end up thrown away or sold cheaply on ebay 10 years later. (And yes, personal experience speaking.)

Unless the seal on the inner bag gets broken, the cereal will not get moldy or rot. It'll just be stale. Problem is, a lot of package collecting now likes the package to be intact for maximum value, so you can't just get the cereal bag out and leave the box for the collection.

Oooh, cool. That's kinda awesome and slightly terrifying at the technology we have. (Wait, does this mean it's possible that a hundred years from now someone could eat a cereal that is at that time out-of-production and not get sick? Because that would be all kinds of awesome. And would give me a great idea for a time capsule item should I ever give in to my child self and do it.)

Found two boxes in a camper* we were selling. The one I opened still had the chemical "cookie" whiff to it. over 20ish years later.
