Totally empathize with you there. Femmephobia sucks and I wish people could get called out on it more.

Seems people think that because you're girly, your geek card is supposed to get revoked or something.

"femmephobia"- I like this word. Also, yeah, the whole feminine and geeky being mutually exlusive concept makes me scratch my head because... fandom's not exactly the manliest activity in the world, in the stereotypical sense. Heck, it involves around stories, and stories=literature=humanities="girly", to most people (especially when compared with math and science). And outside of fandom geekery- don't male geeks get picked on for not being "manly" enough? That's something I hate about stereotypes- they often, aside from not being accurate, just don't make any sense.

But yeah, fuck that shit. There's nothing wrong with make-up and clothes and being girly, and I hate the attitude that they're bad. Shaming other women for not being interested in girly stuff is bad, but liking girly stuff for yourself? Awesome, and I wish people wouldn't be so judgmental about it.

Thanks. Came across that term on a feminist's Tumblr and I've been using it since then. I always figured that the anti-femininity thing in fandom is geek girls trying to be "one of the boys" as much as possible. And as for the geek boys, I always figured it's a "This is MINE" mindset.
