I am eyerolling so hard at this you have no idea. It "hurts"? To the point it brings you to tears? Woooooooow.

I hear ya, OP. I don't know about bringing me to tears, but I definitely get frustrated when time after time after time my wants are shown to be just...not there. Kink fic is my escape when really depressed, so when I go looking for some fic to cheer me up and I just see, time and again, my wants not being represented...yeah, that sucks.

Little things can build up. I get it.

I wouldn't. That mean the OP is not able to open his door and just, you know, live in the real world, even just for five minutes. That's pathetic. even more if the OP cares about the real world but is insensitive about it. That's even more strange.

If you're so invested that it literally brings you tears, I think maybe it would be in your best interests to back away a little, try to put some distance between yourself and fandom for a while, because that sounds like a messed up headspace to be in. And when you have feelings that intense that it can bring you to tears to see somebody writing a particular fic for something other than your preferred character, than it's not that much of a leap until those feelings turn to resentment and you become That Fan, the one who comments on everything saying "this would have better if it was [my OTP]" or posts long, aggressive rants about how there's too much [pairing that gets in the way of your OTP] in fandom. Nobody likes That Fan.

OT, BUT. Nothing hurts me more than coming across a fic that sounds SPECTACULAR only to discover that that it sucks. Talk about being disappointed.

It's ten times worse when the fic has, like, a million reviews despite it being horribly written/told.

It is ridiculously frustrating to find an amazing prompt with a terribly written fic, even more than if it went unfilled. It's the excitement and hope that makes it worse, I think. (And the fact that because there's a fill, it's extremely less likely that it'll get another fill.)

This happens to me all the time! Well, not the crying part. For me it's more like "huh...sucks".

There's this one fic with a great plotline and my chosen pairing, companion art done by my favorite fic writer, and it would be so much better if she'd written it instead. I always think it's a shame.

Op here. Sorry to sound so whiny to a lot of you. I promise my life isn't sunshine & roses but I did write that secret right after having this happen for the billionth time so I may have exaggerrated a little. There are other things that hurt me but this really does hurt too. I know crying over it is ridic. It's just fic is where I go for everything to be right & what I want it to be and then it isn't and it hurts and tears come. I might be getting a little too into fandom.
