The Vampire Chronicles was my first ever fandom. In my pre-teens I shipped Louis and Lestat before I even knew what slash or shipping or fandom was. But then I've always had a thing for love/hate ships, which is what I think Louis and Lestat was meant to be.

By the end of it, both of them hated each other.

I'm willing to say they were lovers for a while but by the end, it's over.

In the book series, the characters' relationship became more benevolent. It's pretty clear they're like those couples that break up and make up and so on.

The movie only covered the first book out of over half a dozen There's WAAAAAY more story after IWTV.

Lol, read the books. Their love/hate relationship continues throughout the series.

I think they love each other and also hate each other. ...like most of the relationships in the series, really. VAMPIRES!!

Well when you're around each other in a small subculture for possibly forever I imagine anyone would get on your nerves after awhile, yes? -_^

I don't ship this. Lestat and Louis are way too different, plus it doesn't help that I hate Lestat, but like Louis.

Also, Marius/Armand is way better than Lestat/Louis.

I was always into Armand/Daniel too. There were some really good ones around. That's another that, even more than Lestat/Louis but not as much as Marius/Armand, is pretty much canon.

I always thought that the only way to read The Vampire Armand without wanting to throttle Marius and Anne Rice was to read it as a testimony of how someone can be brainwashed into thinking that their abuser weally weally wuvs them and that it makes their abuse okay then.

Except it obviously wasn't written that way.

Reasons why if I really love something I'm occasionally afraid to find the fandom for it: Número Uno.

On a completely superficial note, wow that art is pretty.

What? People don't think they love each other? I've never seen any of the fandom... Clearly it's a complicated relationship and there are some VERY bitter feelings there, but every time they have a scene together in the later books, I think, awwwwwwwww, they love each other so much. I think it's doubtful that they could ever stay together in the long-term, but I think they will always find each other.

Totally agreed, OP.
I just realized they were probably my first m/m ship.
Part of the reason I don't want to read the final books of the VC is because I heard they get broken up. :(

I always shipped them too ;A; in their antagonistic, dysfunctional way.
