I'm not sure what you mean by distributing their work? Do you mean linking someone to the story? Or do you mean taking it upon yourself to upload the story somewhere else? If it's the latter, I can see why they wouldn't want you to. It's not your work.

And yes, it sucks when a writer ups and leaves, but that's life. Things happen.

I think she is talking about when authors have completely removed their story from the net, then sometimes people who have downloaded the story will email/PM it to people who ask for it.
