Getting a guilt trip from some entitled brat doesn't make it more fun either.
Does it suck when a story you were enjoying isn't finished? Yes. But that's the danger of reading works that are published serially instead of completed. You run the same chance if you buy a book that's the first in a series. If there's not enough action on the first novel, the others might not be published, or the author might be distracted by another work. The only real difference is that professionally published works is that professional stuff is distributed in a more completed state. If it really bugs you that much, check to see if stories are finished before you start reading them.
