I think it really matters *who* is doing the reclaiming. Like, it's one thing if a gay dude wants to refer to *himself* as a fag, that's one thing, but it's a *whole* other thing to have a group of mostly-straight people "reclaiming" the word and giving it a new meaning.

My only problem with this is that if the word comes into popular use among the group that it pertains to, then people outside of said group tend to think it's okay to use the term.
