I suppose, but I react violently to slurs when people use them in reference to my person because in my experience there has always been violence behind them. Thus far, slurs have only been used against me during a physical altercation or after something has been thrown at me (like a rock out of a moving car, which yes, has happened).

I don't know what else I can say about this because you obviously disapprove of my reaction (which I can see as being perfectly reasonable based on what I've said, to be honest). Should someone call me a derogatory name without blows already having been thrown, and I lash out physically, then I will have to deal with the consequences of my actions. I know this perfectly well, and I accept it.

Punching people not for self-defense, or the defense of others, is worse than the slur. How can you be sure they don't have brain problems that intensify with punches? You realize that a single punch to the face can kill someone?

LJ apparently ate my reply. To reiterate, I don't know why you're continuing to drag this out. I conceded to your point because it is perfectly valid, but I know how I have reacted in the past to slurs thrown my way and it's probably not going to change because every time it has happened, the person on the other end was intending to do me physical harm, regardless of a brain condition or whatever. That's it. And even so, I probably wouldn't really care about their condition at that point because they are threatening my safety.

Violence is bad. I know that. However, my experience with slurs referencing my person have always had violence behind them, and thus I react physically; it's almost a gut reaction at this point. I also said in my comment above that I am more than willing to accept the consequences of my actions should someone get hurt, or did you miss that in an attempt to try and make me see the error of my ways? Besides, I highly doubt my punch would kill anyone as I am not very strong and have terrible coordination. I've lost every fight I've been in but one, and as much as getting ground into the pavement sucks, I have no regrets in defending myself, anon.

Please let this go. I'm pretty sure you're only frustrating us both at this point because I have a feeling we're talking in circles around one another. I am but one person. Continue to advocate for pacifism because it is a good thing, but I don't know that I personally can adhere to it. Sorry.
