Clearly this is a matter of maturity, and sadly I don't think you can force it upon them. Not everyone likes to admit that they're wrong and some are control freaks, but let me ask you this: would you rather have a community that has a bunch of somewhat milder drama queens, or this single person that everybody can just ignore and go their way? If it helps, perhaps you can see them as kind of a joke, I'm sure they'll eventually leave if people stop taking them seriously.

If it were me, I'd ask them, "Okay, so if you were to run the fandom as you are already trying to do, what would change?" and snicker at their radical changes to the fandom- then again the internet is the only place where, half the time, I laugh at people's opinions rather than take them into consideration.

There's a person like this in one of my fandoms. I try to ignore them.

There's a person in one of my primary fandoms who doesn't contribute anything - doesn't comment on fics (at least not publicly), doesn't write fic, doesn't make art, doesn't do meta - except to whine when no one has posted anything for his/her OTP in the past week, demand that various authors write stories for said OTP, and (I think) prompt for his/her OTP anonymously on the kinkmeme and then whine (non-anon) when said prompts don't get filled immediately. (S/he doesn't ever say the prompts were his/hers, so it's possible s/he is just whining about not seeing prompts s/he likes get filled, but either way it's annoying.) S/he may or may not be the same as an anonymous flamer who complains by PM whenever either member of the OTP is portrayed in a fic where they eventually do get together as having ever had previous partners.

This person is making me seriously never want to write his/her OTP ever again, which is a shame, because it's one of the few het pairings in the fandom that I actually like. Fortunately, they're not causing the level of drama that your WRITE THIS FOR ME dude is, OP, but I share your frustration.

I think the best thing you can do is just ignore the one person. I'm guessing it's a small fandom for it to just be one person causing problems, but you're lucky that there's not wank all over the place like in some fandoms. One person should be easier to deal with than an entire subculture in the fandom.

OP

Yeah, it's a pretty small fandom, at least on LJ. TBH, it's not something I've wanted to whine about because the fandom is so much better than others I've come across and it is just this one person, but damn do they manage to make a lot of drama considering the relative size of the fandom. x__X

With this type of person, if everyone refused to engage him, he would probably go away eventually.

Sounds like a good old-fashioned shunning is in order. Do not engage him. Do not cater to him. Do not respond to him in any way. Eventually he will get the message and either grow up, or go away.

And if he actually, honestly asks why he's being ignored, tell him. Once. And then go back to ignoring him.

I think the main problem is that this person keeps attacking people who haven't done anything/are well-liked, and people are automatically sticking up for them. It kind of sucks because it's just fuel to this guy, but since it's mostly on our kinkmeme (and the mod doesn't seem to be around any more, so we can't ban him or anything) there's no real way to tell all the anons to ignore this guy without causing more wank with him whining about it, sigh.
