Except he didn't deliberately out her, he made a comment about what to him was a commonly known subject, not unlike her comment to Kurt before he came out or Brittany's declaration on her show. The chick who overheard could as easily have gotten that information from one of the many public conversations between Santana and Brittany or catching their date at Breadstix not long before.

ah well you don't really need to convince me that this show is written inconsistently. i mean a while ago it kind of seemed like brittany/santana would be common-ish knowledge-- they were so casual about it! but as soon as santana's feelings were involved, it became a question of being outed.

but in context, finn did something really dumb without thinking (as per usual!) which caused santana a lot of unnecessary grief, and no one ever said "uh you shouldn't have done that"

his handling of it in general skeeved me out! iirc he invited her to her own coming-out party and made the attendance mandatory or she would be expelled. woah way to be an awesome queer ally good job finn...
