We live in a misogynist culture, misogyny is everywhere. Have you not noticed the amazing amount of misogynist tropes involved in a lot of popular het pairings, especially canonical ones?

It's ridiculous to blame slashers for the prevalence of misogyny among them given that misogyny is pretty much equally prevalent everywhere else. Call it out when and where you see it, but seriously, don't think for a minute that you can't find it in stuff you like just as much as in stuff that you don't like.

uhhhh idk I'd say there is very little misogyny in femslash, which is all I'm interested in....

Yeah het shippers can be terrible too, but most of the female character bashing is done by slashers who are upset that some "mary sue" (ugh) comes between their ship.

Het and femmeslash have misogyny, too. And Mary Sues are annoying for reasons that have nothing to do with shipping.

1) You haven't read much "yuri"/femslash written by men.
2) Misogynist bashing of female characters that threaten a preferred ship is not unique to slash; take a good look at het shipping wars when there's more than one popular het pairing for a male lead character. The problem is not slash, it's misogyny, and that's cultural.
