I guess I kinda know how you feel... One Piece really cheered me up at a pretty bad point in my life. So yeah, I felt kinda indebted to it, and sometimes I read out of 'obligation'. (Skypiea and Water 7 my god... x.x)

But man, it's just so much funner to read if you take a break and go back to it when you're interested! Or never go back to it, that's perfectly OK too. Who would mind? The characters? Come on, Luffy pretty much symbolizes freedom and the desire to do whatever you want! So don't worry about it, OP!
