Except you're still missing the point by conveniently not reading the part about the fact that this is about the word "genius." :/

No one's harping on the condition. They're harping on egotists who just happen to have the condition as a side point. Yes, you can still be anonymous and have an ego; lots of people make secrets to get attention because when they read the responses they get, it's reaffirming to them to see people they don't even know support or otherwise react to them. That's why you also see a lot of people going on about how they're BNFs in a fandom. (You could argue that they're going anonymous to hide their identities, but really? If you name the fandom you're a BNF in, it's not that difficult to connect dots and figure out which BNF you are... if you actually are one.)

But that's beside the point. The point is, no, the original comment you were getting at wasn't trying to put down anyone with that particular condition. It was saying that it's just not cool to phrase a secret as if they're trying to be a super-special snowflake. That smacks of using the condition that comes after that word "genius" as a means to get attention. If you have the condition and don't throw around the word, then chances are no one would bat an eyelash. In fact, they'd probably sympathize for you pretty hard. But if you try to say, "I'm super-special because of this, and this gives me license to say that I'm super-special," then people are going to take offense because it sounds like you're trivializing the condition.

Tl;dr, there's a difference between a child in a wheelchair and a screaming brat who used the fact that they're in a wheelchair to get attention. Most people would treat the child in a wheelchair with respect, but sane people would not give the same treatment to the screaming brat. Or in slightly longer words, if you don't make yourself look like a special snowflake for any reason, then the internet won't raise an eyebrow at you. However, this is absolutely no indication whatsoever that the internet thinks everyone who says they have Asperger's or are on the AS are trying to be special snowflakes.
