See I can't help but think she's not really that great of an actress, because she only comes off as good in the right movie.

Great actresses/actors are often believable in the crappiest of films, "okay" actors are the ones who need the right director to push them into that part.

I will give you that no actor could save the new Star Wars films, but she has been bad in a lot of other films as well so I just don't think she's that great, okay, but not great.

Great actresses/actors are often believable in the crappiest of films

Well, everyone's acting in the Star Wars prequels was boring and wooden though. I mean, even Samuel L. Jackson was boring in those movies.

That's why I added that I will give them Star Wars films, every actor pretty much suffered in those films due to the poor directing and overuse of cgi. There was some fantastic talent in those films too but it just... all died there.

Léon, V for Vendetta, Black Swan... And maybe Garden State.

If you compare her delivery in each film, you can definitely see where her talent lies at. She's not terrific (yet) but she has managed to send chills down my spine more than a few times. I have no doubt she will be Meryl Streep levels of awesome as she gets older.

I think that her best talent, as an actress, lies in the fact that she's very accessible to the viewer(s) and you sorta forget she's in a movie; you're supposed to be watching a character, but instead you see a person. You get sucked in slowly.

Yeah don't get me wrong, my comment was not meant to even be an insult towards her, there are a lot of actors/actresses that I objectively think are just okay but I love them anyway. I just find it weird when people praise her acting talent and I really don't see it.

She definitely could grow to be one of the greats though, if she gets good roles and continues to work at it I could see it happening.
