Why don't you care about Planned Parenthood? You want poor women to go without cancer screening or birth control?

I don't care about Planned Parenthood. I had a very bad experience at one and the higher ups did nothing except protect the nurse practitioner that did it. They may help others but I will never knowingly give them money again.

I was poor and after everything happened I went to the Health Dept for exams and birth control.

I had a seizure at Planned Parenthood (long story, but basically, I had a panic attack and it resulted in a seizure) and the nurses were kind of rude to me afterward

These places are woefully underfunded and speaking as someone who works for a public school district, when nobody puts money into something it tends to kind of suck to a certain extent

Either way, I'm sorry you had a horrible experience, whatever happened to you shouldn't have happened

I had really bad experiences at PP, too. But, one of them was underfunded, and the other... the amount of security was like a prison. I can't imagine it was easy working there for the people, so I can cut them a little slack for stress.

But fact of the matter -- PP has helped a lot of women who otherwise wouldn't have gotten treatment. Not all of them can help, no, but that's often because of local/state lack of funding. I went with my ex-gf to PP to get her IUD in here, where they are much better funded, and she had a great doctor who did it with very little pain. They were amazingly sweet and kind and helpful.

TL;DR -- just cause they didn't help you (or me), doesn't mean they help nobody. :(

OP here: it's not about hating Planned Parenthood, it's that if I'm going to give to charity, I'd prefer, I don't know, science/math education focused things (I'm a scientist by trade), like supporting my home FIRST robotics team. It's not that I hate them, it's just not my first choice.
