If that's the only reason you stopped watching, you are missing a pretty good show. The POC's are unique characters in their own right, Hornsby and Lee are major presences (Lee's lines are few but incredible), albeit not the leads.

I'm not a big fan of fantasy, personally--is it more in line with criminal proceedings or fairy tales? If it's like a supernatural-esque version of the first, I'll definitely give it another shot. :)

I would definitely say it is more in line with Criminal Proceedings, in structure at least. Nick and Hank are both cops and they get their cases this way, with Nick discovering more depth and clues to the case because he can see the Vessen (creatures like the Blutbad).

Also, although Hank isn't the lead, he is the senior partner in this case and has loads of depth. A couple cases have actually shown a lot of his history and have focused on the people HE put behind bars. Even though he doesn't know about the fairy-tale side of things, he is a great cop and is in no way 'the sidekick'.

One of the series writers is Akela Cooper, who is a black woman. She's fun to follow on twitter.

I really need to start following everyone on twitter... And thanks!

You know, if you like procedurals with strong characters of color playing principal roles, you should check out Homicide: Life on the Street (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homicide_life_on_the_street). While the main character's white, much of the cast is of color, and most of the time, it feels pretty ensemble.
