I agree.

I mean, with some words, I agree with the SJW- there are definitely some slurs that are slurs, and shouldn't be spoken. End of. The n word comes to mind. But other than that, I completely agree with everything you said. ♥

Exactly. Some words are insults for things that should not be insults at all, and anyone who tries to insult someone on those grounds is a hateful d-bag. But then there's, you know, the majority of the language.

To be honest, I'd have to say even "nigger" can't really be called a definitive insult. It's used as an insult, a neutral term, and even a term of endearment/affection. Like, there is no denying that it's history is primarily derogatory and insulting, but if some people are reclaiming it for their own, then it seems like dipping right back into SJW-attitude, if not actual philosophy, to call a black person racist for using it (or imply that any black person who happens to be close enough friends with a white person to not take issue with them using the n-bomb as an insult has internalized racism or something).

I'm not saying I would use it or even if that if I hear it I would immediately assume it's an insult. I'm just hesitate to paint it with such a broad-and-stiff stroke of automatically being an insult no matter what when for some people it's really not.

I'll be honest, about 75% of the time I hear "nigger", it's neutral or affectionate. And of that insulting 25%, I'd say about 90% of that is on movies and videos, only 10% is what I've heard in real life.

But, I live in Los Angeles. I have no doubt "nigger" means something very different here than somewhere in the South.
