Well, tbh, I was glad she didn't really try to fix him, because the idea that you can waltz into someones life and fix them with the power of love and righteousness is one of those "sounds great but the reality is incredibly shitty" ideas.

She wanted to get away from her family and was in love with the idea of doing something heroic and self-sacrificing. She grew to like Rumplestilkin warts and all. And he pushed her buttons, the way a lot of people who are distrustful of relationships will, but once he trusted her he was reasonably decent with her. They would have been fine if the Witch hadn't deliberately broken their trust. And in the end, Rumplestilskin is who he is, he's not secretly nice person under the beastly exterior. Even when he was non-magical, he wasn't exactly a shining moral beacon.

Um, but she did try to fix him? That's what the whole kiss was about, it was about "fixing" him. While the kiss may have been suggested by the Evil Queen, Belle was all for it because she thought evil was overtaking him (which from our perspective made no sense because we're never shown that Belle knows anything about what is underneath Rumpelstiltskin or anything about his past.)

If she had kissed him just because she liked him, it would be different, but she kissed him to break a curse. Maybe a noble thing to most fairy tale characters, but for Rumpelstiltskin it's a huge betrayal because breaking his curse means taking his power.
