My opinion on any times fans pronounce or write a character's name incorrect based on the proper, attempted english version basically hinges on whether or not it was the only exposure they had. I understand when people stick to an incorrect version if it was the acceptable term in the fandom for a long period of time - like Raito.

Edo and Aru, however, make no sense to me unless the person actually watched the series raw, with no subs. (Though, by that token, I would understand if they PRONOUNCED the names incorrectly if they did watch subs)

But if you know what the character's name is, and you always heard/read it that way, I really dislike it when people mispronounce or misspell it. It doesn't make you look like you know japanese, it makes you look like you're trying to pretend you do.

To me, at least.

Personally, I write the English names out correctly, but if I'm trying to think of a scene from the anime, I'll think of the characters in their Japanese names. Makes no sense, but it's how they're used in the series, and I just instinctively think of it like that. (Still, if I was talking or writing about the characters themselves, I'd write and say it in English.)

Also, Aru is a really dumb name. Makes me think of an elephant for some reason.
