17: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. OMFG. It absolutely kills me how some really good authors can't even get their stories read/commented on, let alone recced, because the 10-20 mutually friended self-proclaimed leaders are too busy sniffing each others' asses. The worst part? Some of those BNFs aren't even great writers!

(Me, aside from one half-assed blind_go entry once, I haven't even bothered...I just write for other fandoms instead where work is judged on its own merits and not on the name recognition of the author. It still makes me sad, though, because Hikaru no Go has been my hands-down favorite anime and manga series since 2003.)

But isn't blind_go an anon challenge? That would mean, theoretically that the fics are not judged on name recognition, right?

Hikago fandom is really small, though! Everyone knows everybody else. It's not an issue of people sucking up to each other, it's a matter of, like, everyone in a small town knowing everyone else who lives on their block.

I'm sorry that you're so bitter. I've never seen anyone in Hikago fandom be anything but completely supportive of anyone else there. It's such a sweet, conscientiously nice fandom. It's different from any other fandom I've ever been in; it's my safe haven. I'm sorry it hasn't been that way for you, but I hope you'll try again one day? Maybe?

*hugs*
