Seriously, this really ticks me off. I LOVE Gloria, she is amazing (and a small part of the reason why I want to teach in Colombia). I mean, wtf? Her accent is amazing.

No but insisting she americanize herself so you don't have to listen to her awful foreign accent kind of is.

I'm Latin and her accent is irritating to me. Probably because she exaggerates it a lot to make it sound ~funny.

I don't get it
I've noticed that actors that have accents end up exaggerating them a lot to play characters who are supposed to be foreign. It's kind of annoying, but just having an accent or speaking English with a foreign accent isn't annoying to me IDK

But you have to admit that her accent is more exaggerated than it was in the first season.

I've noticed that living in other countries tends to greatly distort your original accent over time. When I was in the UK for a bit, my accent started doing VERY strange things, getting broader and lazier like a South Carolina accent, even though I've never even been there.

I met someone else from my state who had been living there for years, and their accent had done just the same thing. So bizarre.

Wait, wasn't there an episode where Jay told her that he's tired of her accent, and she changed it and it sounded super awkward? Way to miss the point of that ep. I personally loved her accent, it's part of who she is.

Yeah, it was the Halloween episode. I think it was in the second season.

hasn't she been changing her accent a bit lately though? maybe it's in my head, but I've been thinking that it sounds different.

Do people say that?! Wow, that's lame. Then again, a ton of people on Tumblr thought last night's episode was hilaaaaaaarious and not at all awkward, so possibly ModFam fans are just stupid.

Yeah, it's way more exaggerated on the show than it is in real life. She doesn't sound nearly as irritating in interviews. It grates on me on the show the same way a Valley Girl accent does because it's sooooo draaaaaawn-ooooout and naaaaasaaaaaal. Ohhhhh my gaaaaaaaaad, guuyyyyyys, right?

Added: I think part of it is that when she sounds irritating it's generally in scenes where she's trying to wheedle something out of someone or other and that's when the nasal-y part ratchets up.

I think she can be very annoying on commercials because she exaggerates it just to get attention.

I absolutely hated the ad she did with Ellen - for CoverGirl, I think? - where Ellen's running gag was "no one can understand you". She's beautiful and seems to enjoy the jokes, or at least bears them with incredible grace, but seriously. She shouldn't have to.

her voice annoys me, but it's not even the accent. it's the volume.
I FEEL LIKE EVERYTHING SHE SAYS IS IN CAPS. ALL THE TIME.

I can't watch the show because it feels like holidays with my loud Italian family.
I get a headache every damn christmas.

I love the fact that all the bleeding hearts are like "OMG you can't hate her accent, that's racist," and all the Latin people are like "No, it's actually just a really annoying accent."

I can't stand her voice at all. Her accent is horribly exaggerated and her voice is horribly nasal. Like a Latin Fran Drescher.
