When I said 'giving the authorities a big middle finger', I didn't mean I was trying to get justice to those they screw over. I just meant that I want to do the opposite of the norm, I want to go against the grain.

And mostly, because some stores make it look so easy to do so! Most stores barely think twice if the alarm at the door goes off because it is so faulty to begin with (I've had it go off when I've walked into stores). The employees just wave me through; they don't even bother to check. So what's to stop me from slipping something else in there with whatever I purchased?

Like Parker said in one episode, she stole the Hope Diamond and then put it back. Just because she was bored and wanted to do it. Well, that's what I want to do! I don't need to steal stuff (I have enough money to support my needs); I just want to do it for the rush.

OP, can't you find legal ways to "go against the grain" and get a rush? You never know when the employees won't just wave you through.-- do you want to risk getting a criminal record for such a petty reason?

No, I'm going to continue stabbing your asinine daydreams in the gut.

Parker is a fictional character who never has to face real-life consequences. Shoplifting is a pale reflection of what her character does, and it can even lead to addiction down the road (as some other posters above have demonstrated). It's doubtful that you "won't give in to" your desire, either, since you're clearly the type of impressionable person who can't separate the glamorized life of a thief on television from the realities of petty theft.

Kill that yearning, OP. Get another one for your own good.

I have also daydreamed about sleeping with my professors, slapping the people who have hurt me in my life, and cursing out the idiotic customers I have to deal with on a daily basis. But I don't give in to those desires because they are merely daydreams, nothing more.

What the other anon said. You can had daydreams without actually going through with them. That's kind of the point of daydreams. There's something you want to do but you can't do it for whatever reason. So you imagine it to satisfy that craving. Example: I submitted a portfolio of writing into a contest at my school. I didn't win but that didn't stop me from daydreaming about what I would have done if I had won.
