Uh, here's a suggestion - don't have your character come back for more, don't have your character break down and cry, don't have your character give in. Make your character stand up and shove this asshole out of their live. Make your character strong and amazing and someone who won't take that crap.

While playing flawed characters can often be more interesting than "empowered and awesome" types, I would definitely advise the player to grow a spine and make a choice. Either you're knowingly playing a character in an abusive relationship and you go ahead and explore how it plays out, or pm the other player and clearly tell them OOC to cut that shit out, and if they don't, stop playing.
