I think a lot of those people just like shipping, and sex is an easy source of fluff/conflict when you're writing about a relationship? I don't personally mind clop- I don't read stories that are JUST clop or like, obvious excuse plot so the ponies can get their fuck on, but I don't mind relationship stories going there (though I skim).

I mean, there are probably people who actually want to pork horses, or who want to pork some girl that's whatever "type" their favorite pony represents, and yeah, that's... hard to get. But in pretty much every other fandom discussed here, people seem open to the idea that someone can write about sex for plot reasons, soooo. I don't understand any better why people are so shocked that OMG THE PONIES ARE BONING?

I'd take a stab and say it's because the show is aimed at 6-year old girls. Granted the bronies flipped that demographic upside-down but, still. It's not like Animaniacs, it's made for kids and more specifically all ages. I like MLP for that, because it's cute but when you add sex into that, it's why some of the MLP fandom is creeped out because I think it's a nice place just to talk about fun characters and not sex for once. But I couldn't say for certain.

It's not that I'm particularly shocked about it. It just gave me pause when I found out. The song in the secret has these bizarre lyrics that used to just make me lol and scratch my head whenever I heard it, but now I'm just wondering is this what their fics sound like? and my brain sinks into this pit of contemplating something I don't normally even care about.
