I don't know about marrying him, but I sure as hell wouldn't give that necklace a burial at sea!

Why not just make a withdrawal from the bank and start a bonfire. Great plan.

I thought that was ridiculously stupid of her. Even if she didn't want the necklace for herself she should have saved it for her future children or something. Or given it away to someone who needed it. Done anything useful with it-- not just toss it in the middle of the ocean for the fishies to play with.

Call me selfish, but I would have kept it just in case I ever found myself financially struggling.

She should've donated it to a museum. A blue diamond that big would be a huge attraction! Hell, I went out of my way to see the Wittelsbach-Graff and that thing's not even really blue.

Well since that was the necklace that they were looking for, and they were still searching in the area for it, I always thought she tossed it overboard so that they would maybe find it later?

...I thought the point was she was reminiscing, contemplating jumpin again, and then took it out and was reminded everything she went through and then accidentally dropped it because she was OLD and he hands were shaky.

I heard that it was meant to be uncertain one way or the other of whether she accidentally dropped it or purposefully tossed it. But when I first saw it, and to this day, I see it as her throwing it away.

I thought she threw it away, too. And I actually liked it that way; the idea that after having shared that story she kept to herself for so many decades, she was finally able to let go of the physical reminder of it.
