I can understand feeling that way. But I'm almost 24, and I still spend a good amount of time daydreaming. And I have friends around my age who have graduated college and are working out there in the real world, but who can still be pretty silly at times. You learn to compartmentalize. Sometimes adults look more serious because they're in situations where that's expected of them, like work. Maybe it's not as socially acceptable to be openly silly or fannish, but being "professional" has a lot of limitations like that, and few people are professional all the time. One of my friends and I goof off so much when we're together that it's really hard to picture him in a professional environment. But I know he's able to manage it.

That's not to say you won't change at all as you get older. You probably will. But I think when it's right, it's a natural change, and doesn't feel like you're losing a part of yourself.

I think your feelings are valid, though. And I agree, sometimes adults do dismiss the feelings of kids and teens, which isn't really fair at all. But I think that happens partly because we've all been there and, looking back, the stuff we felt when we were 16 doesn't always feel that major anymore. It can be hard to remember that it genuinely was major for us at the time. That's how life goes a lot of the time. Right now, I find it kind of anxiety-inducing that I'm almost halfway through my 20s. But I'm sure when I'm 30, 24 will seem like a perfectly reasonable age.
