There's still the US version to come. Cue secrets about "omg I find this man hot, best Holmes ever" and "ugh omg he's so fugly",

For once I'd like to see a secret about Sherlock that says the OP finds him really ugly but wants to shag him anyway, or rather because of it.

When it's time for the Hobbit, I think people will be concentrating on the other actors (so many brilliant actors to choose from). Cumberbatch has been in two major movies already (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy & The War Horse) and I don't recall seeing any secrets about him in those movies. So I think the hype is more about him as Sherlock, than it is about him in everything he's ever acted in.
