That's true, there really isn't, but it's an association that fandom unfortunately makes.

I agree that it's kind of weird choosing based off of if it's a gay pairing or not, but I think it ends up just being personal preference. I tend to ship mostly canon pairings that have a chemistry of some kind together that I find pleasing and that I usually (but not always) find in het pairings. But I can definitely get behind slash (i.e. Sulu/Chekov and Kirk/Spock from Star Trek) and femslash (i.e. Regina/Emma from Once Upon a Time).

Ok you don't have to defend your het shipping ways. FFS why defend anything at all. It's fandom, a place of weird fetish and random shit.

I know I don't, and I don't personally have a problem with it. It's just occasionally you get the "you don't like this slash? why do you hate gay people?" types who aren't the majority of fandom but still crop up once in a while.

Don't worry I get "You like slash, you're disgusting" one in a while too

fandom is just made up of assholes I swear.

It's fandom, a place of weird fetish and random shit.

That's... that's the best definition of fandom ever. It should be made into a flag or something.
