(Anonymous) 2012-03-12 02:25 am (UTC)(link)IA that if all you're doing is resizing an already square image, then yeah, screw crediting that. But that really is NOT what most icon makers make. And I don't think anyone that did that would post icons and ask for credit.

But that's just my opinion. It's how I feel about the icons and fanart I make. If someone likes it and enjoys it enough to use it, that's enough to make me happy squee, because it means I've made someone else happy, and if no one else ever learns that I made it? Well, I made it because I wanted to share whatever bit of fandom lol/cute/whatever with other fans, not because I wanted credit.
TL;DR: I understand wanting credit for your work. I just save it for works that are exclusively mine. Those who don't want to limit to that? That's cool, too.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-12 04:37 am (UTC)(link)I don't think anyone would be "ruined forever" by not being credited. All I'm saying is that if you've put time and hard work into something, credit is nice. It's not the end of the world, no, but I don't think it's unreasonable to request.
And, yes, I think that most people want to share their work for the sake of sharing it. Otherwise, why post it online at all? I just think it could be disheartening to see someone using your icon, without credit, and especially if they didn't even tell you they liked it. Especially if you put a lot of time into it.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-12 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)I'm talking about using someone else's work without credit. I think that's a bad thing. If you don't agree, well, then that's your business.

Edited for spelling fails.

(Okay, I know the analogy doesn't really work but whatever... you get the idea.)
