I don't think it's rude. The whole point of writing a prompt is that you're hoping someone will respond with a fic you'll enjoy, and there are things you don't enjoy. (I'm not thrilled with Moriarty either, btw.) So it's better to be up front about what you'd rather not have than to try to be polite to someone who filled your prompt with a story that makes you want to curl up in a corner and die.

Yeah, you're got a good point. And you can be polite about it... "I'd love to see [prompt]. Please don't include [x character(s)], thanks."
