I would watch this show. I flounced from Merlin in series 2 around the time when Morgana was struggling with her powers and Gaius was like "NO! WE CAN'T HELP HER! BECAUSE OF... REASONS!!!!" Because. Ugh. That was some nonsensical shit.

Gauis is just THE WORST, still 2 season later. I just watched the episode of season 4 where he is basically like, "WELL IT'S GWEN'S FAULT SHE KISSED LANCELOT AND BETRAYED ARTHUR, SHE DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED, THAT WHORE" (or a PG version of that), even though it was all Gwen under a spell. And with Morgana the worst part was when at the end of 2x11 he's like, "Morgana CHOSE to do evil with her powers, unlike ~you Merlin, so you are the better person." HELLO, IT'S NOT LIKE SHE GOT THE CHANCE TO KNOW YOU COULD DO GOOD WITH MAGIC, SINCE SOMEBODY REFUSED TO GIVE HER ANY GUIDANCE...*tears out hair*

I don't know how Merlin can stand the stench of hypocrisy that surrounds Gauis. I think Gauis' goal is to screw over all the ladies on the show (he has a good track record so far, between Ygraine, Nimueh, Morgana, and Gwen) except those that he has screwed in the other sense (he was very lenient when his ~old flame~ showed up once in season 3 with bad intentions in the most boring episode ever.

TL;DR: I want Gauis to just DIE already, but it seems like it will never be...

If you're referring to the line "it's Gwen who has to pay the price", uh, I interpreted it as "this sucks, but poor Gwen will be the victim here".

Yeah, that pretty much marks the beginning of the end in terms of Morgana being her own character/writers giving a fuck. After that it quickly degrades into cartoon villainy.
