Seconding the question of "do you hate triad fics in general, or are you just annoyed at this one because it messes with your OTP"? Because if it's the first, don't like, don't read. Every other shippy fic ever is geared towards dyad-lovers, and those of us who don't work like that get to have our little corner of the fandom, too. Just scroll right on past.

If it's the second, then yeah, it's a little annoying when a fic starts out as one 'ship and changes to a different 'ship halfway through, especially if the author didn't mark it as such - and yes, a triad counts as a different ship from one of its component pairs. This is one of the reasons why I don't post unfinished fic - sometimes the characters decide to go someplace completely different in Act 3. But there's nothing stopping you from setting it down and just not reading it, OP.

I thought dyadic was to intersex what cis is to trans?

*confused, has never heard it mentioned in relation to poly folks*

Huh, interesting. It just means "pair" in non-jargon English, and my local poly group uses it to refer to a couple-type relationship - closed dyad, open dyad, etc., as opposed to triad, V, or quad. Sometimes we use it to refer to each one-on-one pair relationship in a larger intimate network-type relationship. Anthony Ravenscroft uses it in his book, too, so I guess I thought it wasn't just a local usage - and I've never head our local intersex activist in the poly group use it in reference to intersex issues!

Google says both jargon meanings are live usage. The more you know!
