But honestly, I would've been happy with ANY sort of consistent character development for ANY of these characters.
I also would've appreciated it if the writers were a bit less black-and-white about Merlin as a hero. Like, I don't think Merlin is ALWAYS right and anyone who opposes him is ALWAYS wrong the way the show would like me to. Merlin's made some crappy decisions in his time (many of them thanks to Gaius' HORRIBLE advice) but the show never really acknowledges that. They act like Merlin can do no wrong most of the time and that just doesn't fit with the character they've created and the choices he's made.
