I'm guessing the OP was turned off by the number of people who pick on "fat" cosplayers, "Man!Faye" style cosplayers, or basically anyone who doesn't look 100% like the character they're trying to represent.

In case you hadn't noticed, it's kind of a problem in the cosplay world. :|

OP, I'm sorry you feel like you have to give up on your hobby. I don't think you should feel like you have to. If you WANT to give up cosplay it's one thing, but if you seriously miss it, I'm sad for you. D: I mean, I'm really ugly and can't sew at all but I still enjoy cosplay. You can't possibly be worse than me, and if you give up now you'll never get better. :/ So.. I dunno man, I don't see why you should have to stop if you don't want to.

Yeah, few things piss me off in the way that cosplay elitism does. It's just a particularly nasty flavor of pointless meanness.
